2-Hand Blackjack
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the game is to come up with a hand closer to 21 than the dealer, without going over 21.
HOW TO PLAY/RULES OF THE GAME
1. Common terms used:
| |
BLACKJACK/NATURAL. A blackjack occurs when the player or the dealer has a total of 21 on his/her first two cards.
TWENTY-ONE. Not to be confused with a blackjack, this occurs when the player or the dealer needs more than two cards to reach 21. A player 21 can beat all hands except a dealer blackjack, and vice versa.
BUST. Whenever a hand goes over 21, it is considered a bust, and whoever busts automatically loses.
PUSH. A push occurs when the dealer and the player's hands have the same value. The exception to this rule is when either the dealer or the player has blackjack, while the other has a 21. Though both have the same total, whoever has blackjack will automatically win. If both player and dealer have blackjack, it is still considered a push.
SOFT HAND. A hand is considered 'soft' if the ace can be valued as 1 or 11 without the total going over 21. For example, a seven and an ace is a soft 18. If we have a seven, an ace, and a ten, the hand is now considered 'hard', for counting the ace as an 11 will cause the hand to go over 21.
|
2. An ace is either valued as 1 or 11. (see #1) Cards from 2 to 9 are valued as indicated. The king, queen, and jack are all worth 10 points. The suit (spades, clubs, hearts, diamonds) is irrelevant, so an ace of spades is equal in value to an ace of hearts, and so on.
3. The game is played with six 52-card decks.
4. Place your bet by clicking on available chips. Click on the DEAL button to start playing.
5. The player receives two cards on his/her two hands face up. The dealer receives one card face up, and the other face down.
6. You now have seven options : you can either SWITCH, HIT, STAND, SPLIT, DOUBLE, SURRENDER, or buy INSURANCE.
| |
SWITCH. Click on SWITCH to exchange your top cards on your two hands.
HIT. Click on HIT to request another card. You can hit as many times as desired, as long as the total of the hand does not exceed 21.
STAND. If you feel that your total is high enough to beat the dealer's hand, click on STAND to end your turn. If you click STAND, you cannot choose to draw another card.
SPLIT. This option only applies if you have two cards of the same denomination. (example - the eight of clubs and the eight of diamonds) In this example, your worst possible hand is worth 16. This is a tight situation, since you would have a good chance to bust if you hit again, while deciding to stay would leave you with a poor chance to beat the dealer. Splitting would give you the chance to play both cards as separate hands. Your original bet will apply to the new hand. Both hands will be played out as usual, as you can either HIT, STAND, or DOUBLE. You can only split up to 2 hands. However, if you split two aces, you get only one additional card for each hand and the dealer takes over to reveal its hand.
DOUBLE. If you feel that you have a very good chance of winning, click on DOUBLE. In this option, you will get exactly one more card, thus ending your turn. As the name implies, your bet will be doubled.
SURRENDER. This option is only available if the dealer's up card is a 10-value card or an ace. Clicking on SURRENDER will discontinue the round and give you back one half of the money you wagered. The game will go on, however, as you can choose to deal a new hand after surrendering.
INSURANCE. This option could only be used once the the dealer's up-card is an ace. Click on INSURANCE to place a side bet of half the original bet. If you beat the dealer, you will be paid 2-to-1 on your original bet, but the insurance money is lost. If the dealer does indeed have blackjack, you will be paid 2-to-1 on the insurance bet, but will lose the original bet, unless you also have blackjack. If you lose to the dealer, and the dealer does not have blackjack, you lose both the original and the insurance bet.
|
7. The dealer also has some rules to follow.
| |
* The dealer uses six decks and shuffles it after every hand.
* The dealer must draw on all hands below 17, while stay on all hands between 17 and 21.
* However, if the player's hands are switched the dealer should hit on a Soft 17. This means if the dealer gets a 17 with three or more cards, the dealer hits again.
* Also on a switched player's hands, a dealer total of 22 will push against any player total of 21 or less. A player blackjack will still beat a dealer 22.
